Somatoemotional Release Therapy

Somato Emotional Release (SER) is a therapeutic process that helps rid the mind and body of residual effects of past trauma associated with negative experiences. Joint research efforts by Dr. John Upledger and biophysicist Dr. Zvi Karni revealed that the body often retains (rather than dissipates) physical forces, and often the accompanying emotional energy, triggered by physiological, psychological, emotional or spiritual trauma. As the body heals, it can isolate, or wall off, this energy into what is called an “energy cyst." Although a body can initially adapt to the presence of this “energy cyst," eventually the body weakens or tires of this accommodation and often develops symptoms of pain, dysfunction or emotional stress in response.

The goal of a SER session is a comfortable holistic mind-body approach to dissipate the residual effects of past trauma and negative emotional experiences from the mind, body, and spirit -- and to gain insight into how that retained trauma is influencing  physical and emotional health. The Somato Emotional Release process requires sensitivity and expertise on the part of the therapist and a positive attitude and trust from the client. Carrie has had advanced training in CranioSacral Therapy and Somato Emotional Release and is prepared to help guide you through the process of more deeply understanding and releasing emotional trauma. This can include:  violent assaults; warfare; sexual, emotional or physical abuse; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), childhood traumas, traumatic relationship issues, divorce, and other more common experiences that have overwhelmed your ability to heal and move on.

Shiatsu

In the Japanese language, shiatsu means "finger pressure." Shiatsu techniques include massages with fingers, thumbs, feet and palms; assisted stretching; and joint manipulation and mobilization.

To examine a patient, a shiatsu practitioner uses palpation and, sometimes, pulse diagnosis.

The Japanese Ministry of Health defines shiatsu as "a form of manipulation by thumbs, fingers and palms without the use of instruments, mechanical or otherwise, to apply pressure to the human skin to correct internal malfunctions, promote and maintain health, and treat specific diseases."

Reiki

Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energywork using spiritually guided life force energy.

Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone has the ability to connect with their own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves and help others. It is believed that a person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true a person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. A session is pleasant and relaxing and is often utilized for one’s personal wellness.

HISTORY

Reiki is associated with Dr. Mikao Usui who is credited with rediscovering the root system now called Reiki. His tradition and methods were passed through several grandmasters of Reiki. Today, Reiki takes many forms, however, The Usui System of Natural Healing is still the form most widely practiced. Practitioners and Master Teachers are trained through an initiation process where Masters pass on their knowledge and expertise to their students.

Shamballa Mutidimensional Healing

Shamballa Multidimensional Healing (MDH) is love; pure, unconditional love. Shamballa is made up of three divine energies that are Reiki, which is the Life Force Energy, the Mahatma I AM Presence and the Christ Consciousness which is an energy shared by the Ascended Masters. The frequency of Shamballa MDH is said to be very similar to Reiki but it has been described as being ‘the next’ step in the Reiki healing evolution. Incorporated into this.

This ancient energy system works on the multidimensional levels as each person is more than three dimensional and so Shamballa heals the many different etheric bodies such as the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual bodies, getting to the core of pain and dis-ease. The healing energy of Shamballa is intelligent and therefore understands the important of balance and bringing each of the etheric bodies into alignment and harmony.

During a Shamballa MDH session, the energy is guided by divine conscious to where it needs to go in order to bring therapeutic relief. This highly powerful system utilizes the Mahatma vibration to help the precipitant to raise and hold their own physical frequencies which assists with the soul evolution and ascension process as well as strengthening their immune system to sickness and imbalance.
Shamballa MDH also helps with the following:

• Reduction of stress
• Emotional pain
• Balances and cleanses the Chakras
• Relieves insomnia
• Eating and metabolic disorders
• Aches and pain
• Migraines and headaches
• Irritable bowel syndrome and constipation
• Arthritis
• Gout
• Poor cardiovascular and lymph drainage
• Past life traumas
• Unhealthy habits
• Empowering and grounding
• Promotes correct DNA functioning
• Enables the precipitant to get in touch with their I AM Presence
• Facilitates in opening channels with the Ascended Masters

Shamanic Ritual / Relating with Elements and Ancestors

Through relationship with ourselves we have the opportunity to access the relationship with all living beings and all those that have lived before us.

Shamanic Ritual assists that reconnection that is often lost in our current culture life styles and belief systems:

By creating relationships with:

Our ancestors (back and back and back...)

thru rituals using:

Fire (the original element to which all returns. out of control fire culture can be one of war, or a warm gentle flame that connects the community aware of the "other worlds"--Spiritual connection)

Nature  (plants ie herbs, trees (ash) tobacco-the Master Magician and Manifestor )

Earth (soil, home-- Where all are welcome and nurtured,...the foundation ---if out of alignment we bring  Martyr and Depletion --in Alignment Nurturing and Care Taking.)

Minerals (crystals, stones - where  ancient stories held "in our bones" In alignment Organized Record Keeping and  Tribal Story telling. Out of alignment "Analysis to Paralysis)

Water (in all forms, tears, rivers and streams, oceans and lakes, stagnant, frozen, steam, rain and tsunami-  Out of alignment Victimization" Poor me" In Alignment - Manifestation of Forgiveness and reconciliation)

Energy and Space Clearing

Prepare for Surgery Workshop

Peggy Huddleston developed five steps to prepare for surgery using mind-body techniques. She guides you in using these steps in her best-selling book, Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster.

A graduate of Harvard Divinity School, her clinical work and research focus on the ways positive emotions and the human spirit speed healing.

The book is a quick read of 2-3 hours. An updated, 4th edition was published in 2012.

The mind-body techniques in this book help you to:

  • Reduce anxiety before surgery
  • Use 23-50% less pain medication
  • Heal faster

Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster is recommended in hospitals across the US, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital which is a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital and NYU Langone Medical Center in New York.

Step One shows you how to use visualization to turn your worries about surgery into positive healing imagery. It calms preoperative jitters, showing you how to shift yourself out of the fight-or-flight response into feeling peaceful.

Step Two is listening to her relaxation CD or MP3. It reduces anxiety, guiding you into a deep state of relaxation. If you have insomnia, it will help you fall asleep. If you have headaches, they will melt away as you relax.

Research at a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital showed those listening to her relaxation had less anxiety and used less medication for anxiety.

Step Three shows you how to ask friends and family to wrap you with their thoughts in a “Blanket of Love” for the half-hour before surgery.

Many say, “I felt more loved then I’ve ever felt in my whole life as I waited in the holding area before surgery feeling the “Blanket of Love around me.”

Step Four explains the “Healing Statements”, words spoken during surgery which research showed reduced the use of pain medication by 23-50%.

Step Five shows you how to request use of the “Healing Statements”, explaining it is your legal right to request them.

Using these five steps, you will reduce anxiety and feel profoundly peaceful in the days before surgery. In turn, this peace creates the biochemistry of healing that will dramatically speed your healing.

Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster Workshops are offered in hospitals and HMOs by nurses and therapists trained and certified by Peggy Huddleston.

Relaxation Massage (Swedish style)

Swedish massage therapy is the most well-known and widely practiced type of therapeutic massage—and for good reason. This type of massage focuses on muscle relaxation, targeting superficial muscles (rather than the connective tissues targeted in deep-tissue massage) and increasing blood circulation.

Wondering if you should request a reservation for a Swedish massage? Check out some of the benefits below to learn why a Swedish massage might be a great choice for you.

Pain management. If you have a condition like sciatica or osteoarthritis and are suffering from chronic pain as a result, Swedish massage can be an effective method for managing that pain in a natural way. Notify your massage therapist about your pain points, he or she can target those areas and use a stroking motion to improve local circulation and reduce muscle tension.

Your Swedish Massage Therapist should use effleurage – a long, stroking motion in the direction of blood flow towards the heart – in order to open up your blood vessels and increase your blood flow. Increased blood flow means that your muscles are getting more nutrients and oxygen and that your body is removing toxins more efficiently.

Rehabilitation for muscle injuries. Your Therapist should also rely on kneading and friction to address any existing injuries, such as adhesions (which occur when muscle tissues fuse together). Many people say that this technique, which relaxes layers of muscle, makes it feel as if the Massage Therapist is “working out the kinks.”

Increased flexibility. When your muscles are more relaxed, you’re able to experience a wider range of motion. A combination of Swedish massage and regular stretching is a great way for anyone to stave off workout-related injuries and get the most out of their periods of exercise.

Reduced stress. Swedish massages are meant to maximize relaxation—you’ll be on a massage table, in a peaceful environment, with a professional spending an extended time (between 60 – 120 minutes) giving you a massage. The combination of the hands-on attention and the environment should relax you, lowering the level of the stress hormone cortisol in your body. Lowering your stress level offers a surprising number of additional benefits, including reducing or eliminating tension headaches, giving you more energy, and allowing you to get a better night’s sleep.

Improved immune system. One other great benefit of reducing your stress with a Swedish massage is that the lower cortisol levels allow your immune system to grow stronger, meaning that you’re less likely to get sick and can spend more time doing the things you enjoy.

Swedish massage is a great way to treat yourself—but it’s also a lot more than that. The physical and mental health benefits of a Swedish massage make it a great option for those new to massage or someone looking to a complete massage experience.
